Nintendo has revealed the development team responsible for creating The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake. While fans had speculated about major developers like Monolith Soft, the interview confirmed that it is actually Nintendo's Entertainment Planning & Development (EDP) Production Group No. 3 that is responsible for the reimagining of the classic N64 title. Featured in the first interview chapter are franchise producer Eiji Aonuma and series directing veteran Hidemaro Fujibayashi, with EDP Production Group No. 3’s HokWai Ng, Aya Shida, Hiroki Taguchi, and Masato Ohashi also listed as key personnel.

The core team behind one of the most highly-anticipated games of the last few years is reportedly the same group responsible for many Zelda projects over the past three decades. This news may ease concerns among longtime fans who feared the Switch 2 version could tarnish the original game’s reputation, given that it is in experienced hands.

During the Q&A, Aonuma explained his approach to development, stating he wanted to “basically let the developers make whatever changes they genuinely felt were necessary.” He added, “I wanted the team to make The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time their own, and to follow through on their own ideas about what the game should be.”

Hidemaro Fujibayashi emphasized the importance of structure, noting that while there is no shortage of ideas for designing a game—especially from those familiar with both the original N64 title and recent 3D Zelda games—it was crucial to have a clear outline of what would and wouldn't change from the source material.
