Nintendo Reveals Surprise Pikmin Day Direct

Nintendo held a surprise Nintendo Direct to celebrate the newly declared 'Pikmin Day' on November 1st. While there was no reveal of *Pikmin 5*, the event provided significant updates for *Pikmin 4 – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Dandori Academy*. The game will feature new mechanics, including the ability to use the console's built-in microphone to command Pikmin using commands like 'rush' and 'go to work.' Furthermore, the Dandori Academy mode introduces new challenges, such as timed exams held on weekends. A demo for the Switch 2 version of *Pikmin 4* will be available starting November 2nd.

Beyond *Pikmin 4*, Nintendo teased major updates for its augmented-reality game, *Pikmin Bloom*. An upcoming winter update will introduce 'Secret Caves,' a new battle-focused exploration mechanic where players must collect maps and command Pikmin to search for treasures. The Direct also featured Shigeru Miyamoto, who emphasized his continued love for the franchise, joined by actress Fuka Koshiba. Finally, Nintendo released a brand-new Pikmin Original Short Movie, confirming that new shorts will be released monthly via the Nintendo Today! app.
