Pokémon Happy Meals Are Coming Back to McDonalds
Pokémon Happy Meals are coming back to McDonald's, and after a series of leaks hit social media, the fast-food giant has officially confirmed which toys and cards you can collect from this round of the collaboration.
The Pokémon promotion launches November 10 in the U.S. and will expand to over 70 countries in the following months. The Happy Meal comes in three different boxes, each of which includes one of 15 Pokémon toys and two of 15 reprinted cards. The specific list of cards Pokémon has revealed doesn’t exactly line up with what McDonald’s and leakers have been sharing online, possibly pointing to different offerings by region. The fast-food chain also hasn’t confirmed whether there will be any specific food or meal items — for now, it’s all about the collectibles.
The three Happy Meal boxes feature Pikachu, Torchic, and Umbreon. The toys are essentially mini versions of those boxes, displaying individual Pokémon's faces under the classic golden arches handle. While they may not be that fun to play with or big enough to use as an actual container, they at least require a little bit of effort to put together.
Like previous McDonald’s collaborations, the included cards are stamped reprints with McDonald’s numbering (M27, this time around), and seven are confetti holo. A full announcement on the Pokémon site includes a list of 15 cards, though Pokémon’s list differs from cards that McDonald’s accounts (and leakers ) have been sharing on social media.
McDonald's accounts also confirm the promotion will be coming to over 70 countries over the next couple of months, with progressive launches through February next year. Toys and cards will likely vary by region, which may be the cause of the card list confusion. For example, Quebec locations will not have the Happy Meal toys, instead offering a Pokémon sticker and a mini booster pack with four cards.
As for how much time Trainers will have to collect 'em all, Pokémon and McDonald’s are only going with “as long as supplies last.”
