Pokemon Unite to Be Taken Offline in 2027, In-Game Sales Suspended
Pokemon Unite will end service on March 23, 2027, following the game’s final competition, the Aeos Crown 2027, held just two days prior in Tokyo. The MOBA Pokemon battler will be shut down on both Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms. According to The Pokemon Company, sales of Aeos Gems have been halted immediately, along with any new Unite Club memberships and automatic renewals. “We offer our sincerest gratitude to the many Trainers who have played since service started for the Nintendo Switch version on July 21, 2021,” the announcement stated. “We hope you continue to enjoy Pokémon Unite until the final day of service.”
Once the game closes, players will still be able to view their stats and achievements, and even play practice rounds, though online matches won’t be available. To access this functionality, users must download a new library feature. The company advised that “Even after service ends, players who complete the required library data download before Tuesday, March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC will be able to use the library feature to view certain records and in-game content.” It was stressed that players who fail to complete this download before the service end date will lose access to the feature.
Many expected this news after Pokemon Unite was conspicuously absent from the Pokemon World Championships 2027’s list of games. The final update is scheduled for November, which will include a special event allowing players to acquire Unite licenses, Holowear, and other items. Pokémon Unite originally launched on July 21, 2021, for the Nintendo Switch, and later expanded to Android and iOS mobile devices on September 22, 2021.
