[UPDATE] Super Smash Bros. Player Mew2King Responds After Tournament Bans Him Over Bug Bite Concerns
Professional Super Smash Bros. player Jason ‘Mew2King’ Zimmerman was banned from a competitive tournament after posting photos of his concerning skin condition and complaining of a bug infestation in his home. On October 16, 2026, Zimmerman went viral after sharing posts on Twitter/X where he complained of suffering from swelling hands and red, painful-looking bumps on his leg, which he attributed to either overplaying or being bitten by bugs. He stated that the bites happened frequently, claiming, “I had like a hundred of these on my body two months ago. Like, my entire body.”
These posts quickly raised alarm among fans and the fighting game community, leading many to theorize he was dealing with a severe bed bug infestation. The concern escalated until the tournament he was competing in, Xtreme Fighters Showdown, issued a statement banning him from the event for safety reasons.
Later, Zimmerman posted a lengthy clarification on X/Twitter, admitting that he had made mistakes when posting out of frustration and venting. He clarified that while he lives with a caretaker, eight cats, and two dogs, he has only ever seen fleas in his home. Furthermore, he stated that the viral photos were not captured recently but were actually from three months prior.
