Minecraft Is Getting Its First New Dimension in Over 14 Years

Minecraft developer Mojang has announced that the Sift is coming to Java and Bedrock Edition in 2027—the game's first new dimension in over 14 years. As revealed at Minecraft LIVE September 2026, the Sift, which had been announced for upcoming dungeon crawler Minecraft Dungeons 2, is also coming to Minecraft Java and Bedrock Edition next year. It joins the Overworld, The Nether, and The End as Minecraft’s official fourth dimension.

Mojang said next to nothing about the Sift in terms of how it will work in vanilla during Minecraft LIVE, and only teased how it will look during the stream. Luckily, Minecraft LIVE revealed that the newest Minecraft dimension isn’t just finding its home in Dungeons II; it’ll also be coming to Minecraft Java & Bedrock Edition next year. This will be the first new dimension in over 14 years – joining the Overworld, the Nether and the End as our fourth dimension.
