Naruto Teasers Reveal New Shadow Rising Manga and Anime Crossover Series

Naruto is alive and well, as author Masashi Kishimoto has announced a new manga called Shadow Rising – and a new anime crossover series is on the way, too. Both Naruto projects were announced during the Naruto panel at New York Comic Con 2026.

Details about the manga, specifically, were light, with only Kishimoto's involvement and its "Shadow Rising" title confirmed for now. However, the panel did come with more information about an anime series aptly titled "Naruto x Ninku," which will serve as a full-on crossover between Naruto and popular '90s manga and anime franchise Ninku.

Teaser trailers were released for both projects. The official announcement confirmed that NARUTO x NINKŪ is in production, fully supervised by Koji Kiriyama and Masashi Kishimoto. Key personnel include Noriyuki Abe as Director and Tetsuya Nishio as Character Designer/Chief Animation Director. An official description noted that the story involves Team 7—Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura—being lost in another world and encountering a boy named Fūsuke.

Meanwhile, the panel also provided an update on the live-action movie adaptation. Director Destin Daniel Cretton shared a message expressing his honor to bring Kishimoto's world to life. He emphasized that Naruto’s spirit—his excitable nature, tendency to try too hard, and unwavering belief in himself—is at the heart of the story they are telling.
