Best Buy Announces Midnight Opening for Ocarina of Time Launch, Zelda Switch 2 Consoles Also Up for Grabs

Best Buy has announced it will be opening select stores at midnight for the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The major US retailer is gearing up for the highly anticipated release, with its website also now featuring a countdown to November 5. The midnight launch will also include a fresh batch of stock for the limited-edition Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Switch 2 consoles and matching Switch 2 Pro controllers. This could be good news for anyone who missed out on the special-edition console during the preorder excitement in September.

Best Buy is counting down to The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of time launch on Nov. 5. While Best Buy hasn't specified how many systems will be available or which stores will receive stock, it has warned that quantities are limited. Furthermore, store hours will vary depending on region, so customers should check with their local store before heading out. If preordering for shipping, those who prefer to collect the game during the midnight opening can modify their order through their "Best Buy purchase history."

The special edition Switch 2 console and accessories were previously shown off during the dedicated Zelda 40th Anniversary Nintendo Direct. While they are available from October 29, they are currently sold out at every major retailer in the U.S. The article notes that while Best Buy lists the game for $69.99, both Amazon and Walmart offer it for a lower price of $59.88.

Other highlights from the Nintendo Direct included the first gameplay reveal for Ocarina of Time, confirming that this is a full remake of the 1998 Nintendo 64 original game. The remake features overhauled graphics bringing it up to modern standards and includes additional dialogue to give characters more personality.
