Wizards of the Coast Confirms Reprints for Popular MTG Warhammer 40K Commander Decks

Wizards of the Coast has confirmed that its Magic: The Gathering Warhammer 40K Commander Decks, originally printed in 2022 as part of the Universes Beyond series, are receiving a fresh print run and will be available for order soon. These four decks were well-received at launch but have largely been relegated to the secondary market, causing their resale prices to soar into the hundreds of dollars. Following reports that game stores could order the precon decks via their forms, IGN reached out to Wizards of the Coast for comment. A spokesperson confirmed: "Yes, we can confirm that we did a small reprint of the Commander decks that will be available to distributors and stores soon." The four decks each focus on a specific faction of the Warhammer 40K lore: Ruinous Powers (Chaos), Tyranid Swarm (Tyranids), Necron Dynasty (undead machines), and Forces of the Imperium (Imperial forces). While Magic's head designer, Mark Rosewater, previously noted that in-universe versions were not planned for the decks, this reprint should make all four much easier for collectors to acquire. Although Wizards’ statement did not confirm if the all-foil Collector’s Edition versions would be reprinted or what the new cost will be, adding more copies to the market is expected to help stabilize high resale prices.

Meanwhile, Warhammer 40K remains a major focus in pop culture, with upcoming releases like Dawn of War IV and Total War: Warhammer 40K slated for release. Magic: The Gathering itself is also set for expansion, with six sets planned for 2027.
