Physint Update: Hideo Kojima Shares New Info on His Upcoming Metal Gear Spiritual Successor

Renowned game director Hideo Kojima revived his Koji10 podcast after a year and shared casting, story, and development updates on Physint, his upcoming next-generation action-espionage game and spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid. According to a summary of the 79-minute English-subtitled podcast on YouTube by X user Genki_JPN, more details about the status of Physint were revealed. Kojima describes Physint as a project to commemorate his 40th anniversary as a game developer. He stated that while he wants it to evoke the roots of the Metal Gear Solid games, it will be a new interactive experience with a different kind of spy action, filled with lots of new ideas. Story and cast-wise, Kojima revealed that he already has the plot and pitched all of the actors appearing in it himself—70% of whom are apparently Kojima fans. Many of the character names have also been decided. Filming is scheduled to start next year, with Bill Skarsgard, Charlie Fraser, and Minami Hamabe already scanned. The 63-year-old director added that he approaches every game as if it could be his last. He also mentioned that another game he is developing for Microsoft, the PT spiritual successor OD, is expected to release before Physint, which Kojima himself had previously estimated would be 5–6 years away.
