Insomniac Finally Lets Players Toggle Wolverine's Story-Related Scent Trails on and Off With a 'Hint' Button
In the latest patch for Marvel’s Wolverine, Insomniac has enabled the long-awaited option for players to choose whether or not they want to use the game’s visible scent trails by making it a togglable ‘hint’ option mapped to a button on their controller. The update dropped after months of complaints from critical players, who felt the scent trails were too hand-holdy and didn’t let them explore enough on their own. On Twitter/X, Insomniac explained that their decision was a direct result of community feedback. Now, players can choose whether or not they’d like to toggle them on or off by using a Hint button (mapped to R3 on the PlayStation 5 controller). This also goes for other features like the visibility of audio cues and nightmare roots, allowing players to navigate the game’s environment and come upon the Nightmare Cabin by themselves. Insomniac confirmed that with recent updates, players now have more control over the visibility of Scents, Audio Cues, and Nightmare Roots. The developer has maintained a pattern of responsiveness, having previously toned down scent trail opacity and implementing specific toggles for elements like Whiskey Bottle scent trails and Material Crate Audio Clues.
